Viewfinder: MFE Announces Teacher of the Year Awards

The Milton Foundation for Education recently surprised the 2011 Teacher of the Year award winners.

Every spring, the Milton Foundation for Education accepts nominations to honor educators in the Milton Public Schools. Awards are given at a ceremony attended by family, friends, students and colleagues to celebrate this special acknowledgement. 

On Friday, April 29th, members of the MFE board, along with Milton Public School administrators and parents, visited the classrooms of the winning teachers to surprise them with the news.
The following teachers are this year’s winners:

  • Tucker Elementary School: Elizabeth Spitz
  • Glover Elementary School: Carolyn O’Connor
  • Cunningham Elementary School: Amanda LeFort
  • Collicot Elementary School: Anne Kelley
  • Pierce Middle School: David Querzoli
  • Milton High School: Nicholas Fitzgerald
  • The district-wide Mary Grassa O’Neill Leadership Award: Gracie Burke


The public is invited to an awards ceremony, which will be held on Monday, May 16 at  6:00 p.m at in the Charles Winchester Auditorium. A reception will begin at 6, and the awards ceremony begins at 7 p.m.
