Young Girl Home Alone During Hudson Street Fire

While no one was injured in a Hudson Street fire Thursday night, the Department of Children and Families would like to know why a young girl was home alone when the fire broke out.

Fire officials tell WBZ that the girl’s mother was at the store when the fire broke out. The DCF has been notified and is investigating.

Thursday evening, fire crews responded to a three-alarm fire at the duplex where the girl lives. The fire spread from the first floor of the home to the second floor and attic before firefighters were able to extinguish it.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
