Hi Friends of Natick Trails, neighbors, friends, and others, Don't miss out on our 8th Coolidge Hill Initiative in the past three years. It will be our Final Fall Sweep of 2013, Sat., 11/16, 9 am - 12 Noon. We'll be up there w/ shop vacs, generators, rakes, dust pans, brooms, trash bags, whatever it takes; we've managed to clear about 90% of the broken glass and litter. Volunteers have been phenomenal. Once an area that was abused for decades, it's been transformed into this marvelous "mountain" (Natick's only little "bald top" less than a ten min. walk from the Natick Common). It features a 360º view from which one can see Mt. Watchusett, Nobscott Hill, downtown Natick's iconic church steeples, and much more. You can't believe what's in this relatively small area (a few acres): white and red pine, birch, cedar, oak, maple and an understory of complex mosses and lichens, fungi, lady slippers, grasses and ferns. Come see for yourself and help us restore it to its natural grandeur. Plus we'll take a few minutes to invite you to celebrate, reflect, comment on our efforts, just like we did this summer. Pastor Vicki Guest (Natick Congregational Church) said it best: we gave the mountain a "blessing." Though I'd have a hard time defining myself as a religious person, there is a spirit and inspiration up there that draws you in. You'll feel it. Thanks, Pat
