Comedy Night!

The Trustees of the Bacon Free Library will host a Comedy Night featuring Joe Yannity and Jim Colliton on Thursday, November 1st, at The Center for the Arts, 14 Summer Street in Natick.  Doors open at 7 pm for the cash bar, the show begins at 8PM.  The performance will include Las Vegas performers Joe Yannetty and Jim Colliton.  Tickets are $50, and are available at www.baconfreelibrary.org, or at the library by cash or check.  Proceeds to benefit the Bacon Free Library.

Joe Yannetty is a comedian and screenwriter from Boston. He is also a writer and performer on the Classic Rock Morning Show with Tai and Steve Sweeney, on 100.7 WZLX Boston. Joe has appeared on more than forty television shows including the Rosie O'Donnell Show.  Joe and his partner, Roger Nygard won a Best Screenplay Video Premiere Award for his movie SUCKERS. Joe co-wrote and appears in the movie that has been seen on HBO and Cinemax.  Joe's standup act can be seen in clubs all over the country. He regularly works in Atlantic City and Las Vegas at the Comedy Stop at the Tropicana. He can also be seen in comedy clubs throughout the New England Area

Jim Colliton has grown up in the suburbs and now lives with his wife and three children in the suburbs.  What does he talk about?  If you have ever been embarrassed about the contents of your recycling bin or tried to kill a flying bat in your house you will find Jim’s comedy hilarious.  If none of these things hits home, Jim has also stolen a school bus and everyone finds that story funny.  Jim’s love for performing comes out every time he takes the stage, whether performing for 30, 300 or even 3000 people (yes, this has happened a few times).  Jim’s comedy is funny, but also clean.  This has helped him stay busy working all across the country.   Jim has been seen on national television shows like Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star, Comcast Comedy Spot Light and Comedy Central Laugh Riots.  Jim can also be heard on XM Satellite Radio’s Comedy Channel.

In spite of a challenging economy, the Library continues to thrive thanks to the support of its community.  There's a lot happening.  For energy efficiency, a changeover is in the works from oil to gas heat.  This summer the library refinished its front entryway and exterior benches, repaired and restored the broken historical fence, did intensive work on the grounds including shrubs, trees and flower beds. To show that off the library ran a number of popular outdoor programs including Jazz and Irish music, a Plimoth Plantation visit featuring traditional Wampanoag clay pot crafting, a Teddy Bear Picnic, and more.

"Everybody loves this little library with the rich history. We do amazing things in limited space and with small staff," said John Brisbin, Library Director.  "I've never had so much fun in library work in all my life.  We want to keep that wave of vitality going -- for our kids and young families, for our readers of popular materials of all ages, for everybody."

Founded in 1880, the Bacon Free Library is one of the oldest libraries in the country.  The unique historic building looks over the Charles River in South Natick village, where it holds a cherished place at the center of the community.  For further information or directions, go to www.baconfreelibrary.org or call (508) 653-6730
