Dear Friends,
GreenSafe Neighborhood Project: today I took a few photos of what I'm proposing: 1) plowed and shoveled sidewalks so people don't have to walk in the street. (Sadly few houses in my neighborhood (West Natick) had shoveled or snow blown their sidewalks after the first two big storms in Dec. Even when some of them did clear the sidewalk, professional plowers often leave a high "snow berm" at the end of each side of the driveways which completely destroys the sidewalk "connectivity" we hope to achieve. And municipal sidewalk plows often make the same mistake by leaving high "snow berms" on street corners.) 2) fire hydrants identified and shoveled out. (BTW, it took my neighbor and I about 45 minutes to locate the fire hydrant near our houses last winter after one of the "big snows.") 3) shoveled and cleared storm drains. I hope to recruit some scout, church, and student groups to help me after the next big snow storm. Let me know if you'd like to get involved. -B Patrick Conaway
