MA to receive over $500 Million in Opioid Settlement

Boston – Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced that Massachusetts cities and towns will split more than $210 million paid by the opioid manufacturers and distributors, while state government will get another $310 million to invest in ongoing efforts to rein in the addiction and overdose epidemic. This comes following after Attorney General Maura Healey and 13 of her peers in other states reached a $26 billion agreement with the nation’s largest drug distributors, Cardinal, McKesson, and AmerisourceBergen, and Johnson & Johnson. Massachusetts will receive the maximum allowable under the terms of the settlement.

“Nothing can undo the damage wrought by the opioid epidemic, but this is still a win for the people of the Commonwealth,” said Representative Linsky. “I would like to thank Attorney General Maura Healey for her tireless efforts to receive these critical funds”
