MassDOT Holds Design Public Hearing On Route 27 Project

The project concerns Route 27 between North Ave. in Natick and the Wayland town line.

NATICK, MA—A Design Public Hearing is being be held by MassDOT to discuss the proposed Route 27 Improvement Project between Northern Avenue and the Wayland town line in Natick.

The public is urged to attend this meeting at the Wilson Middle School Auditorium on Thursday, June 22, at 7 p.m.

The purpose of this hearing is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Route 27 Improvement Project. All views and comments made at the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible, according to the announcement.
According to officials, the project is primarily a resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation project to extend the existing life of the facility while implementing important improvements such as intersection capacity,
bicycle accommodation, new sidewalks and accessibility throughout. It includes pavement milling and overlay, sidewalk reconstruction, drainage system upgrades, traffic signal upgrades at existing signal locations, new traffic signals on Route 27 at Pine Street and Lake Street and new signs and pavement markings.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project, continues the press release. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Town of Natick is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands.

MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be discussed at this hearing.

Written views received by MassDOT subsequent to the date of this notice and up to five (5) days prior to the date of the hearing shall be displayed for public inspection and copying at the time and date listed above. Plans will be on display one-half hour before the hearing begins, with an engineer in attendance to answer questions regarding this project. A project handout will be made available on the MassDOT website.

Written statements and other exhibits in place of, or in addition to, oral statements made at the Public Hearing regarding the proposed undertaking are to be submitted to Patricia A. Leavenworth, P.E., Chief Engineer, MassDOT, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116, Attention: Roadway Project Management, Project File No. 605034.

Such submissions will also be accepted at the hearing. Mailed statements and exhibits intended for
inclusion in the public hearing transcript must be postmarked within ten (10) business days of this Public
