Natick Man, 25, Arrested Twice In 2 Hours In Framingham

After being arrested for allegedly breaking into a vehicle, Sean Lavin was arrested for trying to break into the Framingham Police Dept.

FRAMINGHAM, MA – A Natick man was arrested twice in a two-hour span on Wednesday after first posting bail at the Framingham Police Department and then being arrested again when he attempted to gain access to the department later in the day. According to police, Sean Lavin, 25, Natick, was arrested at 7:35 a.m. on Wednesday when police discovered him allegedly attempting to break into a car on Dinsmore Ave. in Framingham.

Lavin charged with breaking and entering into a vehicle and larceny of property valued at less than $1,200 and malicious destruction of property less than $1,200 police said. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the courts attempting to lighten their caseload, however, Natick was released from custody and ordered to return to court for arraignment at a later date.

Lavin then returned to the police department at 8:57 a.m. and attempted to enter the building, which is currently closed because of the pandemic, department spokeswoman Lt. Patricia Grigas. Grigas said Thursday Lavin became argumentative when he was repeatedly asked to leave after being released on his first arrest and had to be escorted from the building.

When he returned 90 minutes later and finding the entrance to the police department locked, Lavin attempted to gain access through the employee entrance. When he was denied entry there, Lavin then began to scream and curse and make racial comments toward officers. He insisted that property that was taken from him during his first arrest be returned to him. Grigas said that some of his property - including cash, a pen and vape - was being held by police as evidence following his first arrest.

After refusing the leave the site and continually to harass officers for 30-40 minutes, Lavin - who eventually gained access to the foyer of the building - was arrested for a second time and charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. Lavin was arraigned Wednesday afternoon via videoconference and was released without bail. He is due back in court on June 2.
