Natick, Sherborn and Millis Awarded with MassDEP Grant Funding

Funding will provide new waste reduction resources to municipalities across the Commonwealth

Boston - Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection awarded more than $3.2 million in grant funding to 269 municipalities and regional solid waste districts under the Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP). These awards will help communities maximize their recycling, composting, and waste reductions programs.

Specific area towns were awarded the following:

  • Millis $4,550
  • Natick $18,200
  • Sherborn $3,850

“The importance of properly funding our waste reduction programs as well as boosting our efforts in recycling and composting across the Commonwealth can not be stressed enough” said Representative Linsky. “ I am proud of Millis, Natick and Sherborn for all qualifying for RDP funding because of their hard work in implementing environmentally conscious programs and policies. I also want to thank MassDEP for awarding Millis, Natick and Sherborn with their respected grants that will help the Fifth Middlesex District continue to be a leader in recycling and waste reduction throughout Massachusetts.”

The Recycling Dividends Program (RDP) recognized municipalities that have implemented policies and programs proven to maximize materials, recycling, and waste reduction. Communities such as those in the Fifth Middlesex District who received RDP payments must reinvest the grant funds back into their communities recycling programs.
