Natick Public Schools addressing 'digital wellness and learning'; Plus, Game Changers, Code of Conduct & Memorial school updates (natickreport.com) — Natick Public Schools are tightening their approach to student technology use, forming a digital wellness and learning committee and keeping sixth-graders' Chromebooks at school. The School Committee also reviewed a new districtwide student code of conduct and outlined major fall decision points for the future Memorial Elementary School building, including public input sessions and a key vote on the school's design.

2. State denies initial funding bid for 5 Auburn St. affordable housing complex in Natick (natickreport.com) — Plans for a 32-unit affordable housing complex at 5 Auburn St. in South Natick hit a snag when the project missed out on its first round of state funding. The nonprofit developer will reapply this winter, while substantial local backing remains in place, including a $100 land deal, Town Meeting CPA funds, and Natick Affordable Housing Trust support.

3. Two juveniles charged in Natick smoke shop break-in (wcvb.com) — Natick police have charged two juveniles after a Thursday night break-in at Royal Smoke Shop on Route 9, a business the owner says has been hit at least nine times in the past year. The teens will be arraigned later in juvenile court as investigators continue probing the pattern of thefts that have cost the shop thousands of dollars.

4. Milton rebounds from opening loss with win over Natick (bostonherald.com) — Natick High's football team fell 35-22 at home to Milton but quickly turns its focus to hosting Milford next Friday at 6 p.m. The Redhawks briefly led before Milton's strong second half defense and rushing attack took control. Fans now have a clear target for the next big home game under the lights in Natick.

Jon Butcher Featured Saturday (wrtcfm.com) — Natick music fans will see The Jon Butcher Axis officially wrap up their 47-year run with a farewell show at The Center for Arts in Natick on November 21. The guitarist is also part of the Guitar Monsters tour, which includes a Hartford date benefiting a local nonprofit. His long career spans Boston rock roots, national releases, and extensive soundtrack work.
