20-Year-Old Strikes Telephone Pole & Wall with Car
The Needham resident is being charged with operating under the influence.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Woodbine Circle and Fay Lane at 2:30 a.m. on June 19 for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Multiple calls, read police reports, were made to the station regarding the incident.
Upon arrival officers found a black Volkswagen Jetta in the middle of Woodbine Cir. in a position that was nearly blocking the roadway. The vehicle was not occupied at the time, but contained heavy damage to its right side and front section.
Moments after police arrived on scene, a male, who was later identified as 20-year-old Max Ravech, came walking out of a yard on Fay Ln. Ravech reportedly was "unsteady on his feet" and appeared to have difficulty keeping his balance. He also displayed slurred speech and could not properly pronounce his words.

Ravech told police that he had previously dropped his friend off on Fay Ln. As he was leaving, Ravech reportedly drove too fast and was unable to negotiate the turn on Woodbine Cir, causing him to crash.
Upon further investigation, police determined that Ravech was never exiting Fay Ln. and that from the presence of skid marks he was traveling at a "high rate of speed." It was determined that as Ravech was approaching the area of Fay Ln, he struck a telephone pole on Woodbine, continued on that road until he drove up on the sidewalk and finally crashed into a stone wall in front of 82 Woodbine.

The car had "bounced" off the wall, according to reports, and came to a rest in the middle of the road. The passenger side airbags were deployed.
As Officer Michael Tetrault began speaking with Ravech, he noticed that Ravech had an odor of alcohol on his breath. Asked if he had consumed any alcohol prior to the accident, Ravech replied that he had not. Asked again to be truthful, Ravech admitted to drinking.
After a field sobriety test was conducted, Needham police concluded that Ravech had been operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was placed under arrest.
