- Why go: Now in its fourth year, Needham’s Art in Bloom presents a special collaboration between the Beth Shalom Garden Club and the Needham High School Fine Arts Department, pairing up floral arrangements with each unique piece of artwork for a community exhibit inspired by the Arts in Bloom event at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

- Why go: The luncheon is part of Temple Aliyah’s Shabbaton 2012 weekend and will feature guest speaker Serge Etele talking about the challenges of developing and nurturing a new Jewish community in central Africa. Following Kiddush, Etele will meet with the youth of Temple Aliyah to talk about the lives of children in his village and how their practice of Judaism is similar and different from the experience o children in the United States. - Why go: David Tamulevich and Michael Hough of Mustard’s Retreat will perform their special blend of gentle love songs and vivid ballads with tall tales that truly engage the audience. Band Blackstone Run, which plays a mix of New England-based folk music with Celtic and bluegrass, will open the evening performance.

- Why go: Children will enjoy games, crafts, raffles, prizes, food and more at the Temple Aliyah Sisterhood’s annual Purim Carnival. Come in costume to make the day more festive.

- Where/when: , 800 Highland Ave., Needham; Sunday, March 4, 4 p.m.
- Why go: Welcome spring with this annual concert performed by the Needham Interfaith Choir, which comprises choirs from the various houses of worship in Needham as well as other singers from the community. The concert will feature the Motet Opus 29 No. 2 by Johannes Brahms and “Songs of Faith,” a multi-movement work by contemporary composer Paul Basler, plus other contemporary selections. In addition, a hand bell choir will be featured at the performance.
