Accidental Car Theft, Vandalism, And More: Needham Police Log

The following is from the Needham Police Log. Arrests and charges mentioned don't imply conviction.

October 23

9:00 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Nevada Road residence for report of vandalism. The homeowner reports between 11 p.m. the previous night and 7 a.m. that morning, Halloween decorations had been ripped down from trees in his front yard and a report was taken.

11:50 a.m. - An officer responded to CVS in the heights for report of a stolen motor vehicle. A report was taken and surrounding agencies were notified to be on the lookout for the stolen car. The car was later found later that evening to have been taken by a Needham resident who mistook it for a loaner car they were using for the day that was the same make and model. The car was returned to the owner without issue.

October 25

6:00 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle on Brookline Street. The operator, a 42-year-old Newton man was cited issued a summons for operating with a suspended license, operating with revoked registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. A friend came and picked up the operator. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

10:25 a.m. - An officer stopped a vehicle on Charles River Street. The 38-year-old Milford man was issued a summons for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

An employee of a Third Avenue business reported several packages stolen from the building. The matter is under investigation.

1:45 p.m. - An officer responded to a Second Avenue business for a report of stolen merchandise. The manager reported the thefts dating back to three months ago and occurring as recently as two weeks ago. The thefts are under investigation.

5:35 p.m. - A Smith Street resident reported that a bank account and credit card had fraudulently been opened with her information. The resident was advised on steps to monitor her credit.

7:15 p.m. - An officer responded to a Woodbury Drive home for a report of credit card fraud. Someone had made over $1,100 in unauthorized charges on an individual's credit card. The victim notified the bank and the card was cancelled. The matter is under investigation.
