Avante Hair Salon in Needham hosted “Cut It Out”
To help hair stylists address issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.
On Thursday, April 5th, Avante Hair Salon in Needham hosted a first of its kind training in Needham and Norfolk County called “Cut It Out” to help hair stylists address issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. The training was sponsored by the Needham Domestic Violence Action Committee (DVAC), The Norfolk County DA's Office, and REACH Beyond Domestic Violence. Often times, hair stylists form close and trusting relationships with their clients who may share information about an abusive relationship. The purpose of the training is to provide hair stylists with the tools to respond to clients in a way that empowers them and educates them about resources that are available. Susan and Kelly, the owners of Avante, welcomed Jessica Teperow, Director of Prevention Programs at REACH to lead the training for all Avante staff. To learn more, or to host a “Cut It Out” training at your hair salon, please contact DVAC member Karen Hoffman at karenhoffman3@gmail.com
