Board of Health Could Create Regulations for Pot Shops

The regulations could be similar to those for medical marijuana stores.

NEEDHAM, MA — With legal marijuana on the way to Massachusetts, town officials are preparing to create regulations for dispensaries that may want to come to Needham.

Director of Public Health Tim McDonald told the Needham Times that the Board of Health would like to develop regulations that are similar to the ones that exist for medical marijuana dispensaries. Compliance checks to make sure that distributors are checking for identification and sell to those 21 and older are also likely.

On Nov. 8, voters in Massachusetts legalized marijuana. In Needham, voters opposed Question 4 9,877 votes to 8,067.
