The Rockets ran into a red hot Braintree hockey team on Saturday night, losing to the Wamps, 4-0.
“We’re playing some great hockey right now, and we’re just trying to get ready for the tournament,’’ Braintree coach Kevin Burchill said of his team, which picked up three points over the weekend.
Led by senior Amanda Abromson, the Wamps procured a shutout win over the Rockets. With a 1-0 lead in hand through the end of the first period, the Wamps added two goals in the second en route to a 3-0 edge. Securing the win, the Wamps chipped in with a tally midway through the third period.

Abromson recorded a hat trick while Tori Machado added a goal in the win. Minding the net, goaltender Nikki O’Brien stopped 19 shots in preserving the shutout.
“Defensively, we came out and dominated in all three periods, and we were able to capitalize on our scoring opportunities,’’ Burchill said. “Our defense did a nice job shutting down their attack, and O’Brien made some huge saves for us down the stretch.”

Defensively, Kristen Yaxter fared solid, manning the blue line while limiting the Rockets’ top scoring line to just three shots on net in the final period.
“We were very strong with the forecheck, and we were able to win the battles along the boards,’’ Burchill said. “It was a nice win for us, and the seniors really stepped up and came through.”
