Car Fire, Hit And Run, And More: Needham Police Log

October 3

A resident of Seabeds Way reported an item was stolen from his mailbox. The Post Office is investigating.

Officers responded to a report of a car fire on Highland Avenue. The fire was extinguished by Needham Fire.

1:00 p.m. - An officer responded to the Sheraton Hotel for a report of missing property

2:30 p.m. - An officer responded to a report of fraud one Highland Avenue. The victim was deceived into giving an unidentified party $1,000 under false pretense.


October 5

8:45 a.m. - An officer observed the operator of a vehicle violating the impeded operation law and stopped this vehicle. The operator had a suspended license and two open warrants for his arrest. Blemdey Gerard, 33, of Brockton, was arrested for operating with a suspended license and the warrants. The vehicle was inventoried and towed from the scene.

10:30 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to the area of Hunnewell Street and Mark Lee Road for a report of a two-car crash with injuries. Dispatch updated that both operators were complaining of injury and that both vehicles had deployed airbags.

3:47 p.m. - A Sutton Road resident entered the police station to report that his credit cards were stolen and used to purchase over $7,000 worth of merchandise. The matter is currently under investigation.

6:30 p.m. - An officer was flagged down by a motorist who had been involved in a hit and run crash. Needham Police units were able to locate the vehicle who had left the scene and the operator was soon identified. The operator of the vehicle that had left the scene a 42-year-old Needham woman, will be summoned to Dedham District Court for leaving the scene of a crash with property damage.
