‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ to be Screened Outdoors at Claxton

Parent Talk, the community-based organization in Boston's Metrowest area dedicated to families with young children, invites families from local communities to bring their comfy lawn chairs and cozy blankets to Claxton Field on Saturday, August 28 for Flicks on the Field.  Flicks on the Field is a free family event for children of all ages, featuring games, concessions and a viewing of "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs" (PG).

Flicks on the Field, in its fifth year, will begin at 6:30 pm with free activities for younger children. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.  Then, the show begins on the big screen at approximately 7:35 pm, minutes after sunset.

"Flicks on the Field is the highlight of my kids' summer," raved Elizabeth Lee, a Parent Talk member and mother of three. "We can't drive by Claxton Field without one of the girls asking when the next movie night is. This truly is an event for the whole family."

Last year more than 300 families attended the event.  This year Parent Talk estimates that 400 people will spread their blankets or pull up lawn chairs for a delicious screening.  Claxton Field is located on Central Avenue in Needham, across from the Needham Transfer Station.

In addition, Parent Talk invites Flicks on the Field attendees to bring nonperishable food and toiletry items to the event to support the Needham Community Council's Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is particularly in need of mayo, ketchup, mustard, relishes, instant mashed potatoes, jelly [regular & sugar-free], brownie mix, small jars instant coffee, cooking oil, sugar [1, 2 or 5 lb. bags] and small bottles liquid laundry detergent.

Flicks attendees can drop off supplies at the Needham Community Council's White Van that will be parked in the Claxton Field parking lot on the evening of the event.
