NEEDHAM, MA — Residents unhappy over the amount of construction noise are calling on the selectmen to revise the town's noise by-law.
The board held a public hearing at their Oct. 18 meeting, according to the Needham Times. Currently, noise that goes beyond property lines due to construction is restricted to 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. unless there is an emergency or is authorized.

Many residents in attendance supported moving the start time to 8 a.m., but Selectman Matt Borrelli said that could effect timelines for projects. Increasing the fine from $250 to $500 also gained some support.
The board said they will continue to try to find a solution but any by-law changes would have to come at Town Meeting.
