Cool off this Month with 'The Antarctica Project '

The exhibit of watercolors is currently on exhibit at the Needham Library.

The Antarctica Project, a series of watercolor paintings by artist Lisa Goren, are featured this month in the Friends' Gallery at the Needham Free Public Library.

Goren has been fascinated by the Antarctic all of her life, and in 1997 was fortunate enough to be able to travel "south," as she calls it, for a short time.  All of the exhibited paintings are based on photos, the majority of them taken by the Artist on her trip.

Goren said, "Polar landscapes render the term 'abstract' meaningless."

Goren's paintings address this question of reality vs. imagination by attempting to bring the beauty of Antarctica to our world here.

"My work is more realistic and representational, which can be a surprise if you're not familiar with the Antarctic Landscape," she said.
