Cops: Car Drives Over Lawns; Road Rage; 'IRS' Scam; Drum Woman on Bench

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, July 8 

  • At 8:45 a.m., a 52-year-old female from Quincy came into headquarters to report a problem with a Wexford Street business. It was a civil matter between her and the business. 
  • At 5:30 p.m., police stopped a car on Taylor Street of a violation. An 18-year-old Needham man was cited for a restricted turn violation and unlicensed operation of a MV. 

Wednesday, July 9 

  • At 12:30 a.m., police responded to a hit and run in the Needham Heights parking lot. The driver said that when he/she was leaving the parking spot, a vehicle struck theirs and left the area without stopping. 
  • At 1 p.m., police responded to a residence on Laurel Drive for a report of a hit and run 
Thursday, July 10 

  • At 10:12 a.m., police stopped a vehicle near 26 Wexford St. As a result of the stop, a criminal application was issued for the 28-year-old Newton man for operating with an expired license and operating an unregistered vehicle. 
  • At 6:45 p.m., police responded to a past hit and run crash on Charles River Landing 
  • At 10:50 p.m., police stopped a car at the intersection of May Street and Oakland Ave. for a registration sticker violation. Police determined the vehicle had a revoked registration due to canceled insurance. The 38-year-old Hyde Park woman was cited and will be summonsed to Dedham District Court. 
Friday, July 11 

  • At 11:40 a.m., a report of suspicious activity was called in from Rolling Lane. The person said that someone pulled up to the house in a full sized SUV and attempted to open the front door multiple times. 
  • A resident of Charles River Landing reported a stolen bike at 1:50 p.m. 
Saturday, July 12 

  • At 8:20 a.m., police responded to a report of attempted fraud at a Longacre residence 
  • At 10 a.m., a report came in to police about a possible phone scam. The resident said he got a call from a recorded message cleaning to represent the IRS. The message said he had 12 hours to make a final payment or an arrest warrant would be issued. 
  • At 9:50 p.m., police responded to the parking lot on Chestnut Street for a past hit and run. Officers spoke to the suspect who admitted to hitting the victim's vehicle. He was cited for failure to use care in backing. 
Sunday, July 13 

  • At 2:50 a.m., police responded to Edgewater Drive for a report of a stolen vehicle. It was stolen out of the driveway. Five minutes later, officers located it abandoned in Dedham. A search with K9 units yielded no response. 
  • At 8:17 p.m., police responded to Greendale Ave. for a road rage incident. A woman said that a man in a black sedan followed her into a parking spot and was banging on the window and trying to open the door. 
  • At 9:09 p.m., police responded to Fox Hill Road for a report of a car that had drive over a lawn. Neighbors came out to say that a car had driven over their lawns and left the area. 
  • At 11 p.m., police responded to Chapel Street for a report of a woman sleeping on the bench. She was intoxicated and placed into protective custody.
