Crash on 1st Ave. Leads to Head Injury and Citation; Man's Taxes Filed, and He Didn't Know It

The following are excerpts from the Needham police log. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Tuesday, Sept. 30

  • At 8:20 a.m., police responded to a car crash in the area of Charles River and Grove streets. A passenger was transported to BI Needham for possible unknown injuries. The driver of the van was cited for failure to use care when stopping, and the van was towed.
  • At 9:50 a.m., police pulled a vehicle over on Dedham Ave. The 36-year-old male Stoughton resident was summonsed to court for operating a motor vehicle after suspension.
  • At 10 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Second Ave. for defective equipment. The driver, a 28-year-old man from Watertown, was summonsed to court for operating with a suspended license.
  • At 2:10 p.m., police responded to Sachem Road to speak with a resident about a fraud report.
  • At 4:25 p.m., police spotted a car with an expired registration sticker that was traveling on Highland Ave. The vehicle also had revoked insurance. The 32-year-old male driver from Maine was cited for operating with a revoked registration and operating without insurance. The vehicle was towed.
  • At 4:50 p.m., police took a report of vandalism that occurred at Hillside Ave. The person said that his car tire had been slashed sometime on Thursday, Sept. 25.
  • At 5:30 p.m., police responded to Farley Pond Lane to talk with a resent about a report that his tax return had been filed without his knowledge

Wednesday, Oct. 1

  • At 10:10 a.m., police responded to a car crash at the intersection of 1st Ave. and Highland Ave. The driver was transported to the hospital for a possible head injury, and was also cited for the crash
  • At 2:40 p.m., police responded to a South Street residence for a report of a disturbance involving the resident and a friend of the resident. The friend of the 38-year-old Needham man was determined to be incapacitated by alcohol and was placed into protective custody
