Crash Injures 3, Decoration Damage: Needham Police Log

December 18

An officer responded to a Manning Street residence for a report of an inflated Christmas decoration that was destroyed

3:00 p.m. - An officer took a report of some damage to holiday decorations at a Webster Street address.

A resident reported a road rage incident that occurred earlier in the day. The matter is under investigation.

A Needham resident came into police station to report they received a letter demanding money in exchange for their silence. It was a letter that has been mailed to numerous Needham residents lately and is clearly a phishing scam.

9:00 p.m. - Officers responded to a hit and run crash on Yurick Road. Needham Fire also responded and transported three injured people to Beth Israel Deaconess Needham. As a result of an investigation, a 23-year-old Needham man was issued a summons for operating to endanger (negligent operation), leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and a marked lanes violation. An immediate threat license suspension/revocation will also be filed with the RMV.

11:35 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to the area of Charles River Street for a report of two deer struck by a motor vehicle. One of the animals survived the crash, but had to be put down due to its injuries


December 20

A resident from Capt. Robert Cook Drive came to the police station to report that she had received a check in the mail which she believed was fraudulent. The resident had been involved in a business relationship with the company who sent her the check.

10:46 a.m. - An officer conducted a traffic stop on Highland Avenue by Highland Terrace for an equipment violation. Dispatch reported that the registered owner had a suspended license. A-29 year-old Norton man was issued a summons for operating with a suspended license and defective equipment.
