DAR Scholarships

The National Society Daughters of the America Revolution has a wide variety of college scholarships available! Your local chapter can help.

The Col. William McIntosh Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution wants local high school seniors and current college students to know about the wide variety of DAR scholarships that are available. In addition to general scholarships, the DAR has specific scholarships for students majoring in political science, history, government, and economics. There are medical and nursing scholarships, scholarships for American Indians, and a variety of other specific scholarships.

Application requirements must be followed exactly; the deadline for applications is February 10, 2017 for the 2018-2019 academic year, unless otherwise noted on the website. About the DAR and Col. William McIntosh Chapter: Any woman over the age of 18, regardless of race, creed or religion is eligible for membership in the DAR, providing she can prove direct descent from a Revolutionary War-era patriot. The National organization boasts over 180,000 members in hundreds of chapters in all 50 states and many foreign countries. Chapters are typically named after a local event, landmark, or patriot. Col. William McIntosh, who lived in Needham, fought under George Washington and was later a representative in the General Court (state legislature).
