Stephen Puleo, the author of "Dark Tide", "The Boston Italians", and "Due to Enemy Action", will deliver a lecture drawn from his new book, "A City so Grand: the rise of a metropolis, Boston 1850-1900". This period covers Boston's leading role in the abolition movement, its Civil War experience and its growth due to the rising tide of immigrants. There will be books for sale courtesy of Wellesley Books and time for book signing after the program.
This program is sponsored by the Library Trustees and is held in honor of former Library Director, Vivian McIver.
