'Beyond Belief'- A Needham Resident's Connection to 9/11

The public is invited to view the movie "Beyond Belief" and meet Needham resident Susan Retik of the Beyond the 11th organization.

Susan Retik, who lost her husband in the plane crashes on Sept. 11, 2001, is co-founder of the Beyond the 11th organization, which helps widows in Afghanistan become self-sufficient and better able to support their families. The "Beyond Belief" movie is a documentary that chronicles the trip Retik took to Afghanistan to meet the widows she identified with.

The "Beyond Belief" documentary follows Retik and co-founder of the organization Patti Quigley as they make their journey from the suburban neighborhoods of Needham and Wellesley to the most desperate Afghan villages. They discover a powerful bond with the women in Afghanistan creating an unlikely kinship between widows halfway around the world.

After the movie, be sure to stay to hear Retik's inspiring story of how she moved from facing the tragedy of Sept. 11 to helping widowed women in Afghanistan.
