David Matz Discusses the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

Why is the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so difficult to resolve? The conflict has lasted for decades and has worn out—and, in one case, killed—a long string of mediators. It is probably the most studied and reported-on conflict since World War II. And it is still apparently far from settlement. Why?

David Matz, professor of conflict resolution and founder and director of the Conflict Resolution Center at UMass Boston, will speak on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at Temple Aliyah, 1664 Central Ave., Needham.

Matz has worked for many years with Israeli-Palestinian groups and has written extensively on the conflict. He has also conducted negotiation and mediation training in the region and has worked in Israeli universities, courts, corporations and NGOs since the mid-1980s.
