First Parish in Needham invites the public to a free concert entitled "The Sounds of 1711: A Period Concert for Needham’s Tercentennial" on Sunday, April 3, at 3:00 pm.
"The program is a sonic collage from the earliest part of the 18th century," according to Vivian Montgomery, Director of Music at First Parish in Needham. "There will be a special emphasis on vocal, choral, and chamber music that might have traveled across the ocean to the homes, meeting houses, and village concerts of early American settlements."
Featured performers will be soprano Shannon Canavin, baroque flutist Na'ama Lion, baroque violinists Dana Maiben, Karina Fox, and Cynthia Freivogel, and baroque cellist Sarah Freiburg, This celebratory performance is being led by Dr. Montgomery, an award-winning harpsichordist and member of the Baroque Performance faculty for the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
