Free Vein Screening to Area Residents
Area residents are invited to participate in free varicose vein screenings on May 31 at the CardioVascular Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Needham.
Mark Wyers, MD, a board-certified vascular surgeon from the CardioVascular Institute (CVI), will evaluate varicose veins by appointment at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham. He will also discuss non-surgical treatment options. Educational materials and refreshments will be provided.
The screening will be held on Tuesday, May 31, from 4-7 p.m. at BID-Needham, 148 Chestnut Street, Needham. Parking is free. To make an appointment, please call 617-632-9959.
Varicose veins may be more than a cosmetic issue. They can cause significant pain, numbness and swelling. The nonsurgical venous closure procedure may be covered by medical insurance for patients with venous reflux. In contrast to other treatment methods, it typically involves quick recovery time, less pain and no scarring.
