Maundy Thursday Worship in Song

’s music ministry will celebrate Lent with worship in song by performing vocal works created by five of the world’s greatest composers: Sir Edward Elgar, Sir John Stainer, Moses Hogan, Johann Sebastian Bach and Giovanni Pergolesi.

The evening’s Eucharist service features engagingly beautiful pieces which use dramatic text to mark the crucifixion of Christ. Included are Elgar’s Ave Verum Corpus; special music from Stainer’s oratorio The Crucifixion, “The Appeal of the Crucified” and “For the Love of Jesus;” Hogan’s arrangement of Lord, I Want To Be A Christian; Bach’s Crucifixus from his Latin Mass “Mass in B Minor;” and a solo duet performance of Pergolesi’s Quando Corpus Morietur.

The community is invited to join this celebration on Thursday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at The First Baptist Church in Needham, 858 Great Plain Ave. Enjoy talented voices and meet First Baptist's active and welcoming congregation.
