Needham Summit on Energy and the Environment

An important and timely event, “Needham Summit on Energy and the Environment – what we have done……what we might do” will take place on October 24, 2011 from 6:30 -9:15 PM at Olin College’s Milas Hall.

This community conversation is presented through a collaboration of Olin College, Needham League of Women Voters, and Green Needham. The featured speakers are David Cash, Commissioner, Massachusetts Dept. of Public Utilities, and Anthony Brooks, veteran NPR reporter and co-host of WBUR's Radio Boston. They will discuss the Massachusetts 2020 Clean Energy and Climate plan and the roles of the state and communities in achieving its goals of reducing energy costs, creating energy independence, accelerating the development of a clean energy economy for Massachusetts and addressing global climate change.

Their conversation will be followed by break-out sessions prepared and guided by local college and high school students about "What’s next?”, engaging community members and leaders to generate and discuss ideas on what Needham could be in 2020 and how we might get there. Themes include: Water, Food, Transportation, Energy Sources & Choices, Development: the Built Environment, Energy Efficiency & Conservation and Green Economy: Opportunities & Skills.
