Needham Village Club's Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner/Dance

The Needham Village Club will host  a Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner/Dance on Saturday with a theme of '50s and '60s music. Party goers are encouraged to dress in styles from those decades. There will also be an Italian-style dinner. Cost is $20 per person, with all proceeds benefitting the Village Club Scholarship Fund. This is an over 21 event.

About the Village Club:

The Village Club is Needham's oldest social and civil organization, formed in 1914 when William Carter, president of The Carters Company, and some of the leading businessmen and community leaders in town begin informal meetings to socialize and organize civil and charitable events, eventually gathering under the name of The Village Club. It was the Village Club that built the first playground in Needham Heights. The Village Club and its members are a large part of Needham and its history from The Carter Methodist Church (named for the club founder's family) to the many fields in town named after its members, such as the Defazio complex, Small Field, Claxton Field and John Cusick Park.

The club has long been a champion of youth sports in the town and began the tradition of hosting the annual banquet for the high school football team and did so for nearly 65 years until recently when the banquet became so large that it had to move the Needham Sheraton.

The club continues this tradition by hosting most of the youth organization meetings and banquets as well as donating to many youth sports leagues in Needham.
