'Oman and Yemen: Historic Land of the Queen of Sheba'

The will present on Tuesday, April 10 Barry Pell and his slide presentation of "Oman and Yemen—Historic Land of the Queen of Sheba" at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room.

Oman and Yemen form the southern coastal edge of the Arabian Peninsula. Their ancient cities have a long sea-going history, which has contributed to the mixing of African, Arabic and Indian influences. The culture and way of life of the people, from their clothing and custom, to their 500-year old buildings built of mud and brick, have created a “living museum” which has been little changed over the centuries.

With photography from the lecturer’s travels, this presentation will convey a sense of the region’s adventure, its connection to ancient ways, and its hospitable, generous and genial people who are proudly steadfast to their Biblical roots when the Queen of Sheba ruled their empire.
