
The Rivers Symphony Orchestra will open its season Nov. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at on 1132 Highland Ave. in Needham with works by Bach, Brahms, Respighi and Boston-based composer Justin Casinghino. Casinghino is a co-founder of the Boston Composers’ Coalition and will maintain a presence at The Rivers School Conservatory (RSC) during the 2011-12 year, culminating in the 34th annual Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young in April 2012. The Rivers Symphony Orchestra concert will also feature RSC faculty members Junko Watanabe, soprano; Ana-Sofia Campesino, oboe; and John Emery, violin.
The Rivers Symphony Orchestra at The Rivers School Conservatory is a community orchestra for adults conducted by RSC Director, David J. Tierney. The orchestra performs four to five times a year and plays in venues such as the Fine Arts Center at Regis College and New England Conservatory’s Jordan Hall.
Tickets cost $10 for adults and are free to students and will be available at the door.
