After more than thirty years playing together, Southern Rail continues to delight audiences with their contemporary energy, spirit and drive, matched only by the warmth and humor of their performances. Their music is upbeat and emotionally charged, encompassing contemporary trios, powerful gospel quartets, and solid instrumentals. They feature: Jim Muller on guitar and lead vocals -- born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Jim’s rich, distinctive lead vocals and offbeat humor have become one of the group's trademarks. Sharon Horovitch on upright bass -- aggressive, creative and irrepressible, Sharon is known for her infectious smile, her limber bass work, and her tenor and high-baritone harmonies. Rich Stillman on banjo -- has been playing bluegrass banjo for over 30 years. This 2002 and 2003 New England banjo champion has played with the influential bluegrass bands Jersey Travelers, Way Station, and Adam Dewey and Crazy Creek. John Roc on mandolin - his playing is clean, aggressive, lightning fast, and very expressive in the classic bluegrass style.
