Support the Newman Playground St. Patrick's Day Fun-raiser

With the playground at Elementary School set to come down this June, a group of local residents is organizing efforts to raise funds to bring in new equipment once the site is upgraded, with a goal of having everything in place by the time the kids return to school next fall.

After 20 years of frequent use and countless repairs, the playground and the land it sits on must be brought up to current ADA codes. The town is going to remove the old structure, excavate and improve the land so the surface is fully accessible and ADA compliant. But the equipment— monkey bars, swings, slides and other pieces—are funded entirely by donations. The equipment and structure needed for this many children costs upwards of $200,000.

As their first fundraiser, the group is organizing a St. Patrick's Day auction on Saturday, March 17 from 7-11 p.m. at the . Wear green and bring green and help support a local cause.

The event will include beer and bites, auctions, raffles and a DJ. Attendees must be 21 years of age or over.
