Families Have a Howlin’ Good Time with Songwriter Tom Sieling

The New York native performed at the Library on Monday.

Singer/songwriter Tom Sieling had the Needham Public Library dancing, singing and spelling out "R-E-A-D" with their appendages on Monday afternoon.

Making his way to Needham by way of Newfield, NY, Sieling was a one-man-band of family songs that encouraged audience participation and often tickled the funny bones of those gathered in the Community Room.

"Raise a hand if you've had a pretty good summer so far?" Sieling playfully asked the children gathered in the room. "Have you seen any animals? Have you acted like an animal?"

Sieling launched into a Village People "YMCA" inspired song about reading during the summer before asking for audience members names that he could incorporate into a tune about elephants.

The event, "Howl at the Moon" with Tom Sieling, was a part of the Library's "Go Green @ Your Library" series of summer reading activities. Upcoming programs including a screening of the animated film as well as Didgeridoo Down Under on Aug. 4 and a special yo-yo presentation on Aug. 8.
