Food Truck Proposals Heading to Needham Town Meeting

Two proposals are on the warrant.

NEEDHAM, MA — A citizen's petition which would allow for food trucks in downtown Needham and another calling for the trucks to be located at some town fields are heading to May's Annual Town Meeting.

If the petition is approved, one food truck will be able to park in two spots Great Plain Avenue by Greene’s Field, according to the Needham Times. Doug Fox, the person who brought the petition forward, said the area is wide enough to not impact traffic. He added that the spot is further from the brick-and-motor stores than the old hot dog stand at Mobil.

In the selectmen's articles, some town fields and parks would be opened to food vendors. Board of Selectmen Chairman Matt Borrelli said it would be up to the teams playing at the fields to decide if they want trucks during their games.
