“Given that the damaging effects of climate change are already being experienced in Massachusetts, we are asking the community to make new efforts to cut energy use, adopt renewable energy, and reduce waste and toxic chemicals.” explained Greis, who founded and chairs the Green Needham Collaborative, a community non-profit, and has served as an elected member of the Needham School Committee since 2005 and elected Town Meeting Member since 1995. “No one entity can do everything, but we are offering our help to identify existing solutions that offer environmental - and more often than not - financial benefits.”

“We want to celebrate success and share solutions. It is essential to act at the local, grassroots level and support of local businesses, organizations, and institutions,” added Price, who is President of the League of Women Voters of Needham and also serves on Town Meeting. “The GO GREEN Needham Expo will bring the community together to address climate change, individually and collectively.”

At the Expo, there will be fun and inspiring activities geared toward Needham residents of all ages. Activities will include using technologies like electric cars, bikes, and lawnmowers; interacting with renewable energy companies to learn how to both save money and cut carbon dioxide emissions; building and racing solar powered toy cars and making music from junk; and attending enlightened sustainable talks on a range of topics like legislative action, climate change, net-zero homes, sustainable gardening, and more. Attendees will have the chance to learn about outdoor hikes and activities right here in our backyard and sign up for a free home energy audit.
