Haz Mat Team Investigates White Powder on Bus at Newman

A Haz Mat team was called into Needham at 8:42 a.m. this morning as a white powder was found on a school bus parked in the Newman Elementary lot near the Presbyterian Church.

According to Needham Police officials, the driver of the bus checked the vehicle prior to picking up students on her route. When she again checked the bus, this time after the route was finished, she found the substance. Police quickly followed up with the school and Needham Fire called in the Haz Mat team.

The area was blocked off by authorities as officials investigated. It was later discovered that the substance was a food product that had spilled out of a homemade project that a student was bringing to school.
