Hebrew SeniorLife Residents in Dedham Award Scholarships

Local residents were awarded 2021-2022 scholarships from residents of NewBridge on the Charles, a Hebrew SeniorLife senior living community that offers the full continuum of care. In total 16 NewBridge on the Charles employees benefited from the NewBridge Scholarship Fund program this year.

The NewBridge Scholarship Fund was created by the residents of NewBridge on the Charles to benefit the employee members of the community, many of whom have close relationships with residents. This program is entirely resident-run and -funded, and all eligible employees may apply. The program has been extremely well received by both residents and employees, and the 2021 version gave more money to more people, including several returning employees for a second grant.

Scholarship recipients come from several Boston communities as well as Bellingham, Brockton, Canton, Dedham, East Bridgewater, Holbrook, Norwood, Randolph, Taunton, and Worcester. Their schools of choice range from Brown University and Howard University to Blue Hills Technical and the Cass School of Floral Design. In video tributes, each employee expressed appreciation for the growth they have experienced working at NewBridge on the Charles and their tremendous gratitude to the residents for the financial assistance, moral support, and friendship.

The committee already has plans to continue to raise funds for scholarships in subsequent years.
