It is also time to complete all the required proactive and preventive maintenance tasks before winter sets in. A few simple, routine, home maintenance activities will ensure your home is prepped and ready for the coldest months ahead. - Have your heating system checked and maintained before the temperature drops. A check-up generally costs $200 (excl. parts), while an untimely repair in the dead of winter can cost thousands.
- Prepare and clean your woodburning or gas fireplace, ensuring all airways are operating correctly.
- Winterize your homes exterior with caulk, sealing any visible cracks (trim, siding, windows, doors, pipe or wire connections). Sealing these cracks will reduce reduce your energy bills.
