How Much Crime is There in Needham?

NEEDHAM, MA — The Needham Police Department received 31,462 calls for service during fiscal year 2016, according to statistics in the recently released annual town report.

The figure is down from the previous fiscal year's 33,610 calls and the 34,368 calls that took place in fiscal year 2014.

As noted in the report, illegal drug distribution continues to be a problem in town, with drug arrests increaing from 11 to 26. Arrests for operating under the influence of alcohol, however, are down from 31 to 15.

Overall adult arrests are down but reports of larceny, vandalism, assault, and juvenile arrests and complains are up.
