NEEDHAM, MA — An elderly man was hospitalized after a car struck him in a shopping plaza parking lot, police said. Around 11:40 a.m., emergency personnel were called to Highland Avenue plaza, which hosts CVS and Trader Joe's. According to police, an 86-year-old Needham man went over the curb and struck a 69-year-old Needham man and a carriage return for the CVS. The 69-year-old man was taken to the hospital with injuries to his arm and hip, but was fully conscious and alert, police said. It's not clear if the driver will be charged.

The Downsize for Diversity program was originally started by the 501(c)(3) organization, the Lincoln METCO Coordinating Committee, in Lincoln, MA, and raised $170,000 from 2017 to 2022. This was invested in a policy-driven endowment fund and has earned over $50,000 in investment income.
Since moving to the Boston Bridges Initiative in 2023 Downsize for Diversity has netted over $137,000 in art sales.
