Larceny, Dog Fatally Struck By Car: Needham Police Log

November 3

6:10 p.m. - An officer responded to a Murphy Road residence on a reported fraud. As a result of an investigation a 22-year-old Needham man will be summoned to Dedham District Court for larceny by false pretense.

November 6

2:20 p.m. - An officer responded to a Manning Street address for a report of a past disturbance that occurred between a contractor and a neighbor. The contractor told police that he was yelled at by a neighbor but did not know which house he had come from. There was no violence between the two parties and the neighbor eventually left the area.

5:00 p.m. - A St Cloud Street resident came into the police station to report his identity was used to fraudulently open a Verizon wireless account.


November 7

7:00 a.m.- An officer initiated at traffic stop for expired registration. The vehicle's registration was listed at revoked for insurance. The operator, a 49-year-old Walpole woman, was cited and will be summoned to Dedham District Court for operating with revoked registration and operating an uninsured vehicle.

8:30 p.m. - A Rosemary Way resident came to the police station to report that her Visa debit card had been stolen. A total of 10 fraudulent charges were made for a total of $600. The debit card has been cancelled.

November 8

5:30 p.m. - Animal Control was dispatched to a call for a dog hit by a car on Kendrick Street near 2nd Avenue. The dog was pronounced dead and the owner was located.

9:13 p.m. - An officer responded with multiple units and the Needham Fire Department for a report of fire at an Avery Street residence. Upon arrival, there was smoke coming from the third floor window. Needham Fire extinguished the fire which was limited to the third floor.

12:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to a Chapel Street address to speak to a party about suspicious phone calls. The party was advised of their options moving forward regarding harassing phone calls.

November 10

5:00 p.m. - An officer was dispatched to the Sheraton Hotel at 100 Cabot St. to speak the director of human resources regarding a past larceny involving one of the hotel's employees. As a result of the investigation, Jose Lara, 48, of Boston, was arrested and charged with identity fraud and forging RMV documents.

7:15 a.m. - A resident on Pinewood Road reported to that his motor vehicle was broken into within the last two days. Tools were missing from his trunk.

10:20 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to Saint Sebastian School for a report of an injured construction worker. Needham Fire arrived on scene and continued treatment. OSHA was notified.

11:45 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to an Avalon Road residence for a reported theft of packages from the mailbox.
