Larceny, Fire In Apartment, And More: Needham Police Log

July 21

7:30 a.m. - An officer stopped a motor vehicle on 1st Avenue. The registered owner's license status was listed as suspended and the vehicle's registration was also listed as suspended. The operator, a 31-year-old Boston man, was cited operating with a license suspension, unregistered motor vehicle and no inspection. The vehicle was towed.

9:48 a.m. - An officer was dispatched to assist Needham fire on 2nd Avenue for a fire alarm. Needham fire was informed that there was a small fire in one of the apartments. The resident was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The resident's dog also got checked out at Highland Animal Hospital and was released.

11:50 a.m. - Needham officers responded to Webster Bank on Highland Avenue for report of fraudulent ATM activity occurring. As a result of a description provided by the bank an individual was stopped a short distance away on Highland Ave. After a short investigation, Constantin Tansanu, 34, of Manhattan, New York, was arrested and charged with larceny by single scheme over $250, improper use of a credit card, identity fraud, and possession of a counterfeit credit card press.
