Needham Breaks Ground On Sunita Williams Elementary School
The school, named after the Needham High School graduate and astronaut, is expected to open in 2019.

NEEDHAM, MA — In less than two years, Students who attend Hillside Elementary School will have a new home.
Last week, the town broke ground on Sunita L. Williams Elementary School. Work on the 90,700-square-foot school is expected to be completed in time for the 2019-20 school year.
In June, the school committee chose to name the school after the Needham High School graduate and astronaut. Williams has spent over 321 days in space and has made seven spacewalks. Her background as a Naval officer, astronaut, and a member of SpaceX made committee members lean towards her.
