Needham Bridge Demolition Over, All Lanes on Route 128 Open

NEEDHAM, MA — Demolition work near Route 128 has been completed early, the state's Department of Transportation said.

Just before 11:30 a.m., MassDOT announced that the demolition and cleanup on the southbound side of the highway are over and both sides of the highway are open.

Over the weekend, traffic was detoured around the bridge as crews demolished the old Highland Avenue Bridge as part of the state's Add-a-Lane project.

Work was expected to end later in the day, with the highway reopening in the evening.
