Needham Bus Routes 2010-11

Before Needham students can get back to the books on Sept. 1, they have to first find a way to get to the schools. In order to make things easier for students and parents, Needham Public Schools has released the bus routes for the 2010-11 school year.

All students in Needham Public Schools, with the exception of Kindergarten students, begin on Sept. 1, as do students at St. Joseph's School. Public school Kindergarten begins on Sept. 2.

The bus will pick up children in mid-day Kindergarten within a half hour of their school's start time from their respective homes. Children in morning Kindergarten, meanwhile, will be driven from school to their homes within a half hour of dismissal time. Residents on a dead-end street or one containing a cul-de-sac will find the bus picking up at the corner of the street.

Needham Public Schools would also like to remind parents that they must be present at the time of bus drop-off. If a parent is not home, the child will be driven back to the school for pick-up.

Students of any age who are beyond the two-mile radius of their respective schools are eligible for bus service. However, fee-based busing is employed for all students in grades 7-12, students in grades K-6 who are within the two-mile radius and Kindergarten students who are transported to Kindergarten After School Enrichment.

From the first day of school, students riding the bus must always be in possession of a bus pass. Missing or lost passes can be obtained for $5 at the Transportation Office in the Administration Building.
