Needham Field Hockey Clinches First Round of Tournament
The Rockets won the first round of the D1 North Sectional tournament on Thursday.

Sitting at number 9, Needham’s field hockey team beat the eighth-seeded Concord-Carlisle team on Thursday, 1-0, in the first round of the D1 North Sectional Tournament.
In the first half, Concord-Carlisle controlled much of the ball, but the Rockets came back swinging strongly by turning away no less than seven corners from the Patriots.
At the half, the game was tied at zip. The second half provided many chances for scoring, but none did until the Rockets’ Ally Hickey made a shot with ten minutes left in the game. The shot, however, waived the goal and the score retreated to 0-0, and into sudden death overtime.
